Department of Business Communication

The Department of Business Communication offers core and elective courses across a variety of topics relating to interpersonal, internal and external communication within organizations, persuasion, business writing, oral presentations, and team communication. Our courses incorporate a specialized focus on AI and technology-driven communication, motivation and audience engagement, networking, storytelling, and leadership in the contemporary business landscape. Courses also focus on critical thinking and decision-making processes, cross-cultural business communication, and ethics.

The importance of effective communication to the success of individuals and organizations and their stakeholders has increased exponentially in the age of globalization, AI and new media. Technology is changing communication at the workplace and influencing how business is conducted. Understanding communication theory, concepts, practice and skills in today’s ever-changing landscape will help students advance themselves and their organizations regardless of their positions or industries. The ability to communicate strategically and effectively in times of calm or crisis is essential for career success.
