The Keck School of Medicine Department of Surgery is pleased and excited to present the launch of the Master of Science in Perfusion Sciences program. With a strong clinical program and educated perfusion staff, the Department of Surgery is well-prepared to facilitate an excellent educational program for cardiovascular perfusion. As highly specialized and integral members of the cardiac surgery team, cardiovascular perfusionists are responsible for maintenance and support of a patient’s cardiovascular, hemodynamic, and metabolic state and function by utilizing the heart-lung machine, as well as additional ancillary devices in the cardiac operating room. The USC Master of Science in Perfusion Sciences Program will prepare qualified students to enter the dynamic world of cardiovascular perfusion and sit for their National Boards Exam after graduation. Across five semesters consisting of didactic, simulated, and clinical education, this program provides the knowledge base, clinical experience and resources necessary to become highly trained, competent perfusionists, while also becoming caring and compassionate members of a healthcare team.
