Narrative Medicine Certificate

The Certificate in Narrative Medicine provides students with the training and tools needed to thrive in a world where stories matter and where close reading, attentive listening and reflective writing have the power to transform the clinical encounter for both the patient and the practitioner. Students receive training in narrative medicine principles and practice and take their learning back (or forward) to the workplace. They are leaders in healthcare, education, government, law, entertainment, business, homelessness, addiction and mental health.

Students take 12 units of graduate course work available within the Master of Science in Narrative Medicine Program, as indicated below. If accepted to the MS in Narrative Medicine program, all 12 units of the certificate can be applied toward the MS degree.
