Department of Data Sciences and Operations

The Department of Data Sciences and Operations (DSO) provides students with quantitative and analytic skills needed to excel in today’s data-driven business world.

The expertise of more than 40 faculty members in the DSO Department at Marshall spans three main disciplines: information systems, operations management and statistics.

• Information systems courses familiarize students with emerging technologies, digital transformation tools and digital business models, which offer new ways to transform data into value for consumers and firms. Many of these courses involve field-based projects.
• Operations management courses prepare students to design and lead flexible businesses that can capitalize on data-driven insights and are sufficiently robust to survive the unexpected.
• Statistics courses teach students how to extract actionable business insight and reliable forecasts from the “big data” collected by smart devices and e-commerce applications.

The Master of Science in Business Analytics (MS)  is designed to empower managers and recent college graduates with necessary skills (computing, modeling and strategy) to leverage big data for making effective business decisions, and improving organizational performance. 

Master of Science in Global Supply Chain Management (MSGSCM)

The Master of Science in Global Supply Chain Management focuses on a world-class academic foundation in Supply Chain Management with real-world applications in the form of live projects for leading companies as well as international and domestic site visits. We uniquely prepare our students for an increasingly global, complex and ever-evolving world.
