Department of Business Communication

The Department of Business Communication offers core and elective classes in a variety of topics relating to interpersonal, internal and external communication in organizations, business writing and oral communication and presentations, group and team communication processes, AI and technology-driven communication, persuasion, networking, and leadership. Courses also focus on critical thinking and decision-making processes, cross-cultural business communication, media-mediated communication, and ethics.

The importance of effective communication to the success of individuals and organizations and their stakeholders has increased exponentially in the age of globalization, AI and new media. Technology is changing communication at the workplace and influencing how business is conducted. Understanding communication theory, concepts, practice and skills in today’s ever-changing landscape will help students advance themselves and their organizations regardless of their positions or industries. The ability to communicate strategically and effectively in times of calm or crisis is essential for career success.
