Physical Education & Mind Body Health

Return to: USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences

The Physical Education & Mind Body Health (PEMBH) department focuses on promoting overall wellness through a combination of fitness and activity classes. Our courses are tailored to meet individual goals and needs, with a strong emphasis on building muscle strength and endurance, improving cardiovascular health, increasing flexibility, and educating on nutritional principles. In addition, our activity classes provide instruction on essential techniques, tactics, and etiquette, as well as the importance of leisure time activities for physical, mental, and social wellness.

Mind Body Studies Minor

PEMBH’s minor offers the opportunity to explore the interconnectedness of body and mind well-being through an experiential, interdisciplinary study that blends theory, research and practice. Core course work includes foundations in yoga, mindfulness and stress management for a comprehensive approach to healthy living. Interdisciplinary course work examines mental and physical health for a multi-dimensional view of mind-body awareness and connection. This minor is designed for students who want to add a dimension of well-being to their personal and academic lives. It is particularly suited for those with career interests in health care, physical therapy, psychology or social work.
